Language technology and computer aided translation tools (so-called CAT tools) are an important aspect of translation management. Specialist tools and translation software are used to ensure the consistent use of terminology in repeated or recurring segments. CAT tools complement the translator’s existing knowledge by displaying previously translated segments in a translation database, the translation memory. Terminology databases are another available tool. This technology means that a translator not only saves sentences and segments, but a full glossary can be integrated. The translator can then immediately see which term to use for your company, and which terms are to be avoided. It’s easy to send us your glossary (we generally receive them as excel files), and it’s even easier for us to apply it to your translations. CAT software programs are not to be confused with machine translation tools, such as Google Translate or Bing Translator.
